I haven't used it but it seems like a viable option. If you have modern TV and receiver connected to your Shield, I would bet you can get by with just the Shield remote most of the time. Once that is done I expect I will be able to use the Shield remote much more easily by using CEC to simply turn on/off the TV and Receiver as needed. Eventually I plan to get a new TV, and new receiver. I like its built in keyboard and it works as an airmouse which is kind of cool but not super useful. After this is done and Flirc 'understands' those buttons, you can plug it in. Everything else is done on the Rii remote. For a first guess.as you have already a device configured on your harmony (and it wouldn´t matter which device you defined, because Flirc works with ANY remote) you have to learn those buttons to the dongle by using the flirc software. DO NOT ASK TO ADD A COMPUTER it doesnt work this way. Most of the time, I tell the Harmony I want to 'Watch Shield' and it turns on the TV and Receiver and sets them to the right inputs and I can use it to adjust the volume if I want. Just plug your FLIRC and install the drivers (windows should do it for you), then on your harmony app simply add a device using 'microsoft' and 'flirc' as requested in the blank area. Neither work well with CEC so I need the more function-rich Harmony to make them work well. Setting up an Activity Once added, Harmony will prompt you to create an Activity. Select COMPUTERand enter OS WINDOWS, select >in the upper right-hand corner. Select the ADD DEVICEbutton at the bottom of the screen. I didn't bother to get it working because my TV is positively ancient in terms of home theater devices (Vizio VP505 XVT Plasma from 2010/2011 I think) and my receiver is well into middle age (Onkyo TX-NR616 from 2013). Select MENU, then Harmony Setup > Add/Edit Devices & Activities > DEVICES. the Shield remote has an IR blaster in it and you can tell the shield that you want to use its remote to run the TV or receiver volume using the shield remote. I *also* have a Harmony One remote that I use to run my TV and receiver. It works very well because it has an integrated keyboard. I have a Shield TV Pro (2019) and I got this remote to work with it (via USB 2.4ghz dongle it came with). Go to My OSMC : Pi Config : Hardware - to determine GPIO pins used. That's a tricky thing to solve. To continue setting up the 650 to control the Raspberry Pi, on the TV with it connected to Raspberry Pi and with a mouse and keyboard connected to a Raspberry Pi: ) and add Options, Home, Menu, Select and direction buttons to on screen Sync, and then go back and edit On Screen buttons and physical buttons, and sync again. Setup the rest of the devices using manufacturer and model number. Running Kodi as Watch Apple, rename to "Broadcast TV", manufacturer: Apple, model: A1378, select Apple Silver remote from Kodi, The A1378 corresponds to the Silver Apple Remote Within the MyHarmony App, do the following to setup the Raspberry PI: I put a small sticker on the inside, where the batteries are that indicate the room name for the remote.ĭownload and install the Logitech's MyHarmony app.ĭownloading and installing the app is self-explanatory. Each remote only controls the devices in that room. So, I keep these in a text file.įor whatever reason, my family likes to walk around with the remotes and bring them from room to room. The My Harmony app has a limitation in that it doesn't allow naming of the room the remote is in. So, I have 7 rooms with televisions or projectors. I worked on hospital TV start up for about a year.
